As a curator for LA Hip Hop Events its my duty to know whats happening around town and pass it to the people of Los Angeles and surrounding cities. But this time I had no idea and thankfully 180la invited me to attend Boost Mobile’s “Where You At? LA” Hosted By Murs powered by Slacker Radio.
The show was being recorded at LA River Studios and upon arrival without knowing what to expect I was excited to see some familiar faces. Warmly greeted by Verbs he told me what to expect from his performance. An interactive freestyle where the viewers/listeners send topics for him to freestyle about. Dope!
Verbs went in with no hesitation and kept the crowd amused. MURS also joined Verbs on stage to stream live to those not in the studio audience for an up close view.
Murs first guest was Casey Veggies. An artist pushing his movement and the culture forward. From Inglewood Casey Veggies is known as an emerging artist. Multi talented with a clothing line and label. Explaining how he was signed Casey Veggies dropped knowledge from The perspective of being young and coming up in the music game.
After the interview Casey Veggies performed for the crowd.
Reverie a local star turned world wide hometown hero discussed the trials of being a female emcee and expressed much gratitude for having opportunities that have come her way. She also performed accompanied by her DJ, DJ LA LA.
The surprise of the night was the appearance of Dame Dash. He was also interviewed by MURS. Nothing but jewels dropped. From music business to relationships. His presence was appreciated.
What’s Up LA? first show was dope and I can’t wait to see what’s in store with upcoming episodes. Driving from the show a point from the night made an impression and a take-away was something Dame Dash said about building your own platform. It’s what Murs and the Boost Mobile team are doing and I’m doing with LA Hip Hop Events building a platform knowing they will come.
