BOOMBOX is back [SAT.8/3] with hip hop icon PSYCHO LES of the almighty Beatnuts [DJ Set] + drummer/producer extraordinaire DARU JONES [Beat Set] + triple OG Los Angeles legend DJ DAZ!! Three certified legends from different ends of the hip hop spectrum!

PSYCHO LES is quite simply, that dude! From his Beatnuts debut in 1993, the Queens NYC native has injected his raucous rhymes and disruptive beats into the veins of hip hop fans worldwide for over 30 years. As a digger/DJ, his ear for samples and chops has lead to some of the most important/recognizable production in the genre’s history. We’re hyped to welcome him back to our stage for another journey through his crates!

One of the most respected drummers of his generation, two-time Grammy winner DARU JONES has probably rocked with your favorite artist’s favorite artist. His list of collaborators is as wide as it is long…from Jack White (drummer on all of his solo material), to Pete Rock (music director of The Soul Brothers), to Pharoahe Monch (member of Th1rt3en), to Madlib (currently rocking collab shows/more t.b.a.), and that’s just the tip of the iceberg! DJ DAZ is one of the most important DJs to come out of the vibrant 90s hip hop/rare groove scene in Los Angeles. Originally from London, his ear for curation and selection landed him gigs at some monumentally important parties that defined the sound to come in Los Angeles, most notably Brass and Chocolate Bar! He also founded the Umoja Hi-Fi Soundsystem which still holds it down to this day with members Daz, Thomas, Culture D, Jun, Aaron Paar, & Monalisa. At Boombox, we remember who paved the way…and DJ Daz is one of them!
