Triple OG RHETTMATIC legitimately needs no introduction. from his founding work as one of the original members of the World Famous Beat Junkies [we would argue that his “Beat Junkies Vol. 2” mixtape is one of the most important mixes of all time], to his production & DJ work with The Visionaries, Eric Bobo [Cypress Hill], J.Rawls, Buff1, Ras Kass, & countless others, let alone the fact he was J Dilla’s final tour DJ…his most important work yet might be the Beat Junkie Institute of Sound, a DJ school in Glendale where he and his Beat Junkie brothers are teaching the next generation how to DJ the RIGHT way! To say Boombox would not exist without the contributions of this man would be to tell NO LIES!

Next-generation Japanese wunderkind DJ RENA has accomplished more in his 19 years on earth than most DJs could in 5 lifetimes. In 2017, at the tender age of 12, he was crowned the youngest DMC World DJ Champion of all time, a title previously held by the legendary A-Trak. Having reached the absolute pinnacle of the DJ battle world, instead of taking it easy he went ahead and added 2 more world titles to his trophy case [2018 IDA World Champion + 2018 Kame World Classic Champion]. Now repping the Super Beast DJs alongside fellow world champion K-Swizz, the future is as bright as the sun for this young man. We’re honored to be hosting his official Los Angeles debut set!

Since September 2nd, 2006, Boombox has provided a home for Los Angeles hip hop lovers to gather every first Saturday of the month and celebrate the genre’s most respected DJs and producers.
