BOOMBOX returns [SAT.7/5] with none other than the legend DJ BABU [Dilated Peoples / Beat Junkies] + the return of Japanese wunderkind DJ RENA!!

Simply put, certified turntable icon DJ BABU is one of the best to ever do it. His storied career includes multiple DJ championships [ITF + Vestax], continuously touring the world DJing and producing for hip hop heavyweights Dilated Peoples, and even coining the term “Turntablist“, all while influencing an entire generation of DJs with his pioneering work as a member of the World Famous Beat Junkies. As if all that wasn’t enough, in 2017 he helped found the Beat Junkie Institute of Sound…a state of the art DJ school that’s “Building Better DJs” on a daily basis in Glendale, CA. There are few, if any, that have had as important an impact on hip hop DJing as the Dilated Junkie DJ BABU. We couldn’t be more hyped to welcome the legend back to our turntables!

At just 20 years old, Japanese phenom DJ RENA has accomplished more than most DJs could imagine in 10 lifetimes. In 2017 he reached the pinnacle of the DJ battle world by winning the DMC World DJ Champion title at the age of 12 [youngest ever]. He then followed that up with 2 more world titles the following year [2018 IDA World Champion + 2018 Kame World Classic Champion]. Having conquered the entire battle world by the tender age of 13, he’s since gone on to wow fellow DJs and fans alike by crafting a unique, jaw-dropping mixing style that utilizes intricate turntablism techniques to seamlessly blend/remix different genres LIVE into his own next-level creations. Long story short, he’s one of absolute best in the game, hands down. We are honored to have him back on our turntables for his second feature set in Los Angeles [both at Boombox]!

Since September 2nd, 2006, Boombox has provided a home for Los Angeles hip hop lovers to gather every first Saturday of the month and celebrate the genre’s most respected DJs and producers.
