I’m sorry, but I am so disappointed with this “concert”. I have been a fan of Charlie Wiggins AKA Raphael Saadiq since 1990. I could never afford to see him. FINALLY, I found out he was coming to LA. I got Orchestra seats for me & my man for a romantic date night. We arrive early, they take our phones. Concert was supposed to start at 8, instead he came on at 9. We did not listen to ONE full song. He talked the ENTIRE time! Why was this written as a “concert”? It was a talking memorial service to his mother, sister, brother, and Ernie Isley; which is fine. It was beautiful, but that is NOT what I paid for. I paid to hear him sing his hits, and did NOT. He talked for an hour and a half a sang for a TOTAL of 10 minutes! Half of the theater walked out. The audience was screaming at him to sing the songs, and just talked the ENTIRE time. Don’t be a fool like me and purchase these tickets! I have no one to complain too and they won’t give me my money back for a speak easy they displayed and bamboozled me saying it was a concert.
Hi Shawntae,
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re truly sorry to hear that the event didn’t meet your expectations, especially given your long-standing support for Raphael Saadiq and the excitement you had leading up to the show.
We understand how disappointing it must have been to anticipate a night of live music and classic hits, only to experience something very different. While the intention of the performance may have been to offer a more intimate and personal storytelling moment from the artist’s life, we agree that this should have been communicated clearly in all promotional materials so fans could make an informed decision about attending.
Your feedback is incredibly important and we are passing this along to the appropriate teams to help improve communication around future events. Transparency matters, especially when people are investing their time, money, and emotions into seeing an artist they love.
Again, we sincerely apologize for the disappointment and frustration this experience caused. Your voice matters, and we appreciate you sharing it.
Warm regards,
